Heel pain among children and youth
Pain caused by overuse in the heel area is common among active children and youth in age 10-14. The pain disappears spontaneously and the prognosis is good but the healing process can take several years.
– Pain during and after activity.
– The pain gradually increases when walking after been seated. Limping when walking and running.
– Pressure pain around the heel bone.
It is hard to tell what the exact reason is but the pain often accentuates with a lot of training without rest and recovery.
Reduce the number of training and competing occasions per week to decrease the risk of increasing pain.
Make sure that the shoes are suitable for the activity being performed. Shock absorbing heel pads.
