PAPHOS, Cyprus & OLDENBURG, Germany — August 6, 2026
Rehband, a global leader in premium sports protection and performance supports, and VfL Oldenburg GmbH, one of the most established clubs in German women's handball, are partners, with Rehband serving as Official Supplier of Protective Equipment of VfL Oldenburg.
The partnership brings together two organizations committed to helping athletes perform at their highest level, push beyond their limits and realize their full potential. Rehband is the exclusive supplier of sports supports and protectors to VfL Oldenburg and equips both the club's women's first team and its youth teams. Alongside supports and protectors, Rehband also supplies tape, handball resin and compression wear to the club. The partnership continues through the 2026/27 season.
VfL Oldenburg has been a fixture of the 1. Handball-Bundesliga Frauen since 1999, having first reached the top flight in 1980 — one of the longest unbroken runs in the league. The club has won the DHB-Pokal four times, in 1981, 2009, 2012 and 2018, from a total of eight cup final appearances, and lifted the EHF Challenge Cup in 2008. In 2024 the team reached the German championship final and finished as national runner-up.
What sets the club apart is how it builds its squads. VfL Oldenburg is known for developing regional talent and bringing players through its own youth structure into national and international professional handball, with a second team competing in the 3. Liga as the bridge between the youth teams and the Bundesliga side. Engagement, responsibility and a down-to-earth approach are values the club states openly — and they are visible in the way it works. Extending the partnership to the youth teams means the same protective equipment is available to players long before they reach the first team.
The team plays its home matches at the EWE Arena next to Oldenburg's main station, an arena of around 2,300 seats that has drawn crowds of well over 1,600 spectators per match in recent Bundesliga seasons.
Handball challenges athletes through a constant combination of sprinting, cutting, jumping, landing, diving and physical contact on hard indoor courts. Rehband knee pads are anatomically designed to provide a secure fit, shock absorption and reliable protection against contusions and floor burns — without restricting the mobility athletes need to accelerate, jump and shoot. Rehband's handball range also includes elbow pads, compression wear, tape and supports developed for the same demands.
The partnership with VfL Oldenburg builds on Rehband's long-standing commitment to handball, a sport in which the brand has supported athletes, clubs and national teams across Europe for decades. It also strengthens Rehband's presence in Germany, one of the sport's core markets, and adds to a portfolio of partnerships with clubs, federations and competitions across team sports and functional fitness worldwide.
Through its designation as Official Supplier of Protective Equipment of VfL Oldenburg, Rehband continues to strengthen its position in Germany while building on its role as a global performance brand trusted by athletes across team sports, functional fitness, weightlifting, powerlifting and endurance sports.
The partnership is visible at VfL Oldenburg matches and across Rehband and club digital channels.
