The 22nd Men’s Handball World Championship has started
Thursday the 13th January the 22nd World Championship of Handball was opened in Gothenburg, Sweden. It is played in eight cities in south-west Sweden, with the final being hosted by Malmö on the last Sunday of January.
24 teams from all the world's continents are participating. The bulk of the countries are from Europe, but Bahrain, Egypt, Tunisia, Brazil, Japan, Algeria, Australia, Argentina, Korea and Chile proves that handball is a truly global sport.
During the last men's World Championship in Croatia in 2009, media had 1 568 representatives accredited. Television broadcasts reached far over 1.5 billion viewers in 150 countries. This year will show no less interest from media! It is by far the largest event in Scandinavia in 2011.
Rehband is of course supporting a number of the teams who are believed to have the best chances to win the title. First must be mentioned France, the ruling champions. We have a long cooperation which has recently been renewed, something we are very happy about. Some of the other teams sponsored by Rehband are Norway, Poland and Austria, all of them having a long history of favoring Rehband as the sport support for handball.
We wish all the participant teams Good Luck and hope for an exciting tournament!
